Kane Williamson’s Injury Sends Shockwave Through PSL 2025! Karachi Kings Fans Disappointed!

The much-awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season has already hit a major setback, even before the first ball is bowled! With the tenth edition set to begin on April 11, news has broken that one of the tournament’s biggest stars, Kane Williamson, will be absent from the first few matches. This is a big blow, especially for Karachi Kings (KK) fans, who were excited to see the IPL-winning star in action.

Kane Williamson, who signed with Karachi Kings after an unexpected snub in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction, was supposed to be a major asset for the team. However, his hopes of playing in the opening matches of PSL 2025 have been dashed due to a quad injury. The 2025 season’s first five games will be without the Kiwi legend, leaving KK supporters on edge.

Despite this, there is some good news! Williamson is expected to return before Karachi Kings’ sixth match, scheduled against Quetta Gladiators in Lahore. This was confirmed by none other than KK’s owner, Salman Iqbal. For those wondering, this injury isn’t new—Williamson had a similar issue during the Champions Trophy Final against India. Since his non-selection in the IPL auction, he’s been seen providing commentary during the ongoing IPL season.

‘South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen drafted by Islamabad United in Supplementary category and New Zealand duo Mark Chapman and Kane Williamson selected in the Platinum and Supplementary categories, respectively, will also be unavailable for a few matches to Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings,’ a PSL statement said.

In other updates, Karachi Kings’ full squad for PSL 2025 includes stars like David Warner (captain), Abbas Afridi, Adam Milne (all platinum), James Vince, Hasan Ali, and Khushdil Shah (all diamond), and many more. The team will also be without other key players, with Peshawar Zalmi making a crucial change by bringing in George Linde as a replacement for Corbin Bosch. Linde, who impressed in the SA20 for MI Cape Town, is now set to play a vital role in Zalmi’s campaign.

Moreover, Islamabad United also made a signing, bringing in Alex Carey as a partial replacement for Rassie van der Dussen, who is also set to miss a part of the tournament. It’s not just these two teams making changes—Mark Chapman will also be unavailable for the 2025 season. This PSL will mark the first-ever overlap with the IPL, with the PSL 2025 kicking off on April 11th and concluding with its grand final on May 18th.

The latest developments are certainly keeping the fans on their toes, as the league promises to be full of surprises!
